The Mail

I think that I officially get too much fabric in the mail! How do I know this? Well, every day the kids and I walk out to our mail box- it's down our little road- to get the mail. Yesterday when we got it, there was a small package that came (containing 3 charm packs to be exact) and Layton got a hold of it and said, "OH, cute!!"
Apparently he has watched me and my response in opening up mail containing fabric one too many times!

Lookie What I Bought!

Here is one of the kids Christmas gifts I bought off Etsy! I say "the kids" because it is for both Layton and Timber. I'm hoping that Timber will play with it more as she gets older but Layton will probably play with it some now. He loves to come up to the table while I'm sewing and "re-arrange" all of my cut scraps. He takes my quilting rulers and "measures" things and loves to uncoil thread. Hopefully this little toy will keep him a little more occupied while he's up there!

I'm trying my best to buy completely handmade this holiday, so far, so good!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope that all of you have a terrific Thanksgiving week! We are going to be leaving Wednesday morning to head south to my parents home for the holiday. We won't be coming back until Sunday so there will be no Wordless Wednesday or Friday Features this week. Both of my little kids are sick with colds as am I. The 8 hour car trip should be fun.

On the bright side, I have one quilt that is nearing completion, one top that is almost complete as well and one top that is halfway done. Why does my quilting always go in spurts? Do any of you have that same problem with your creating? I have a dry spell where I don't get a new quilt in my shop for a month and a half and then I list 3! I think it has something to do with having a hard time staying on task. I may start one quilt top but then start another, and another, and another. Then it just takes forever to get them all done! The only quilt top that I don't have any type of rush on is ANOTHER one that I am doing for the babies. The fabric is from Moda's Timber Creek Flannels (see below) and is soooooo soft and sooooooo warm. Plus, it matches the theme of their bedroom perfectly!

I hope that all of you enjoy your turkey day this Thursday! Eat tons of yams (my favorite) for me!

What's in a Name?

Once again, I'm enlisting the help of my blog readers to help out with some important decision making - naming the newest addition to our family! Actually, I really shouldn't call him family because, I don't know about all of you but, we don't eat members of our family and we are going to be eating this dude.

I do feel as though he needs a name though. Nothing too cutesy though, we're not keeping him as a pet. Gavin's suggestion was "cow." Not so original. What do you think?

Big Accomplishments!

The kids have been growing faster than I'd like these days! Timber is already crawling all over the place and just weeks away from pulling herself up onto things. Before I know it she'll be walking! She is sleeping through the night now which is giving me a much better nights rest.

Layton is talking up a storm, repeating everything that anyone says (gotta watch out for that!) and is counting to 6 and learning the letters of the alphabet! He is also FINALLY nubby free. His "nubby" was his pacifier and I thought he would never let that thing go. I didn't want taking it away to be a fight or a horrible experience for him so I just let him have it. I figured he'd either get rid of it on his own or by the time he was 3 I'd be able to talk more to him about it and why we'd be taking it away. Thankfully about 2 weeks ago he was fussing and when I asked him if he wanted his "nubby" he said "no,no" :0 What?????????????? Did my pacifier loving child just say that he didn't want it?????? I took that as my cue and that was the end of the pacifier. I had it on hand in case things went too far south but he did an amazing job of letting it go and I now don't have one single pacifier in my home! (Timber never really liked hers anyway and gave hers up at about 6.5months.)

It just amazes me how fast the babies change- getting bigger and older. So terrific and so sad at the same time!
