I had sick kids yesterday and this morning the internet has been a bear (like a growling grizzly that doesn't want me to wake it up).

 

We've got rain, rain, and more rain in our forecast for the next week so I'm looking forward to more sewing time after school each day! I made a list of all the projects I either have going or want to start and it feels endless.

 

Maybe if I just stopped looking at fabric and patterns on the internet and focused on what I have here in my stash, my list would one day dwindle.

 

I actually listed some fabric for sale on my Instagram account (incase you need any more fabric to add to your stash! LOL)

New Listings in the Shop

Happy Fall Y'all! I just finished up a craft fair in Ferndale, CA where my friend, Michelle, and I had a booth. I have some quilts left over from the show and am working on getting them listed in my shop. It seems to be a long slow process for me since our internet here at the house isn't fantastic.

 

But... I press on!

 

 

I hope that all of you have a wonderful fall and Thanksgiving time!

 

 

Things at the homestead here are good. Kids are still growing, the rooster is still crowing, and we're ready to settle into a long cold winter, Lord willing!

Christmas in July!

Well, sort of. I just finished my Crazy 8 disappearing 9 patch. The top anyhow. This was my first disappearing 9 patch and I loved it! It went together so effortlessly and looks really neat. Crazy 8 by Sandy Gervias was the perfect fabric here. It blends traditional with contemporary as does the pattern; taking the traditional 9 patch, cutting it up and then sewing it back together with a contemporary flair. A great Christmas look for those that are not quite old but not quite new either. Modern, yet classic. It should be in my quilt shop later this month.

Patterns!

The patterns actually came yesterday. I got them on sale from Fat Quarter Quilters- thanks Laurie! Now, that's a good thing and a really bad thing. See, the bad thing is that I've been eyeing that Rings of Diamonds pattern that Emily created for months now. Since I found it on sale, I gave into buying it. But that then lead to buying fabric for it. Here's the thing; I usually like to take patterns and then use my own choice of fabrics on them. But, Emily's choice of Moda's Cotton Blossoms is just too perfect. So I broke down and bought the fabric. Um, for 2 quilts. And for the brown and aqua quilt, I bought enough to turn it into a king size quilt instead of the 60"x60" quilt that the pattern allows. I did only buy the red and cream though for a lap size. I hope I like creating the quilt because I have now committed myself to making them. My humble quilting bank account won't let me forget it either!

And last but not least (well, actually it is least because I hate it.) Here's the Snippets Pinwheel Quilt.

I don't like how it went together at all. I'm not a perfectionist but I like for my quilts to be well made. I tried on this one. Really, I did. But me and pinwheels just don't get along. I just don't feel as though it is of the level it should be. As soon as it's quilted it will be in my shop for a "seconds quilt" price.

Works In Progress. I've got a few of 'em going right now. How many is too many to have at one time? Remember how I just told you that I'm a procrastinator? Well, apparently I'm also ADD and can't focus just on one project at one time.

A new fall quilt for the shop. I know I said I wasn't doing any more charm square quilts but since this was just a lap quilt instead of a king size I figured I could handle it.

A few pinwheels from my American Jane pinwheel quilt. Have I ever said that I loathe pinwheels??? Well, I do. Not the actual finished quilt- I love those. I just don't like making them for some reason. This may not be my last pinwheel quilt ever (since I seem to be a glutton for punishment and always try another hoping it will be different) but it's certainly close to my last.

A little mini quilt that's been a UFO (UnFinished Object) for a while now. The triangle blocks were all done I just needed to sew them together.

And then of course there are 4 quilts and 2 table runners to be bound...........

and the Crazy Eight dissapearing 9 patch to be completed. Sheesh.

Here's a new table topper that I'll have in my Etsy shop soon. (Well, as soon as I get the binding on it.) I originally thought of meandering through it since, in my opinion, a meandering stitch looks good in anything but I decided just to go with the grid on this one since the top is busy enough as it is.
I used (surprise, surprise) Mary Engelbreit's, Recipe For Friendship collection from Moda to create it.
Sweet, little and cute. It will measure around 21" square. Great for your Spring table. Or, I guess, it could make a good lovey too. If you have little kids then they may make lovey's out of your table toppers anyway!

Quilt Preview- Recipe for Friendship

I had the best sewing day, yesterday, that I have had in quite a while. This quilt top went together so smoothly. It totally made my day! Plus, once it was done, I was so in love. I used a charm pack, a jelly roll and some yardage from Moda's Recipe for Friendship collection by Mary Engelbreit.

This quilt is so cheery and perfect for spring! I set the squares on point. The setting triangles were giving me some trouble since I'm horrible at math and I didn't have a pattern to follow. My friend Tiffany of Warm N Fuzzies sent me this link and saved the day!

I finally figured out what I was going to do for a border on my Civil War Crossing Quilt. Here's what I came up with. I'm going to bind this one with the plain brown that I used as the inside border.

Here is another quilt I will soon have in my Etsy shop. I'm getting a little anxious about re-opening so this one may not make it to completion before I do. If not, it will be added soon afterwards.
This quilt is made up of Moda fabric (big surprise.) I used the Civil War Crossing collection because I am mad about reproduction fabric. I tend to keep reproduction fabric to myself though, hording it for my own personal quilts. But this one, I decided to share; how nice of me! :)

I'm still a little stumped on the border I'm going to add. I was thinking about 2.5" x 5" strips sewn together lengthwise and then added onto the quilt for a border. Most of you probably can't picture that if you're not a quilter, and even if you are a quilter I probably just explained it so poorly that you're having problems as well. I'll let you know what I decide later!

Quilt Preview- School Days

Here's a preview of a quilt that will be included in the reopening of my shop at the end of this month. The center is a panel from the Thimbleberries School Days collection. It would be prefect as a year end gift for that special teacher. I wasn't sure how much I liked the whole quilt until it was quilted. Now, I think it's just adorable! The sunflower quilting pattern through it makes it so cheery.

Oh, and my Urban S quilt is nearly bound and it is SO FABULOUS! No really, it is. It's not my "style" of fabric but this was another quilt where once the quilting was completed, I just totally fell in love with it.

I'm on a roll now! I got 3 quilts bound over the last 3 days and just finished this little top. Sorry that the photos are a little dark, but we don't have a whole lotta sun right now. The last photo includes the fabric that I will be using to back this quilt. Once this is quilted you won't see the lines as much.

I'm currently working on my Mary Engelbreit quilt and am thinking about starting one with the Civil War Crossing fabric from Moda that is sitting in my stash. I love reproduction fabrics. I've got 2 quilts to be quilted right now. Both are my larger quilts. Plus, I still have to bind Tiny Tots and my Thimbleberries quilt. I guess I'd better stop typing and start sewing!

Quilt Preview x2

So I guess that my "break" from quilting really isn't a break at all. Not keeping up my Etsy shop has been a break though- especially from the computer. (You Etsy addicts know what I'm talking about.) So in the long run, I think it's actually given me more time to sew. Here are two new quilts that will be included in my shop when I reopen.

The first is my Tiny Tots Quilt. Remember I told you that I had ordered that fabric about 2 weeks ago? Well, I just couldn't wait to put it to use! (Huge props to me though because I did manage to complete my, already started, two larger quilts before I began this one.)Anyway, this is a little snippet of the quilt in progress. I have about half of it completed. I still have some creating to do. This quilt will end up being child sized.

The second quilt here is one I've been working on for a while. Honestly, 342 charm squares is enough to drive anyone mad. The fabric in this quilt is from two Moda collections put together, Ruby's Flower Garden and Summer's Basket of Flowers. This is the first patchwork quilt I've made for my shop. Before I began it seemed easy enough. How hard can it be to sew 5" squares together? And it was easy, just painstakingly tiring! I don't think that I want to see another charm pack for quite a while. I think I'll leave these "simple" quits to someone else. I am pleased though with the way it turned out. It is an over sized queen for sure- possibly a king. I laid it over our California King bed and it almost fit well enough to use it on that.

Here's another little gem that will be in my shop when I re-open next month. This little cutie is made up of flannel fabric which, in my personal opinion is great year round. Layton's blankie is made from flannel and you can always count on "mik" (as he refers to it) to be cuddly and soft; something that every little kid needs! Plus, the design on the fabrics is so funky and fun. I love it! And really, even if you didn't have a little one, this would make a great little quilt for an adult to throw over a lap on the couch.

Here's a few pics of the completed quilt top for my Urban S quilt. I still need to find a backing, quilt it and then bind it (obviously.) I used the 1974 collection from Moda by Urban Chicks. I think it turned out really great. It was fun to make. I like trying something different every now and then.

Itty Bitty Preview

Here's a small preview of a quilt I am working on. I say "small" because you're only seeing 9 blocks and there are 49 total. All the blocks are complete now, they just need to be sewn together and borders added. It will be in my shop this February. For those who haven't seen my shop announcement, I will be closing up shop for a bit. I will be closing at the end of this month and opening up mid-February. It's a much needed break from sewing all the time. Of course, I am still going to sew- just at a slower pace! :)

This quilt is made up of the Urban Chicks 1974 collection from Moda.

I also have reduced some prices on a few quilts in my shop to make some room in our home. Take advantage of these low prices while they're still available! Another Quick Preview!

O.k., one more for today! This one just needs to be bound and washed and then it will be up in the shop!

I used the fabric collection from Moda titled, Miss Jumps Scrap Bag and then used a great fabric from RJR on the back from their Harvest Reflections collection.
