Thanks for the kind comments. About getting started, I turned 20 and just decided that I wanted to make a quilt. I had a friend of a friend that invited me over to her home weekly for a ladies quilting group and it all snowballed from there! The first quilt I made was a queen size square in a square quilt for my bed. The second quilt I made was the Kansas Troubles quilt you see here in these pictures. What can I say? When I wanted to start quilting, I wanted to make QUILTS, not little wall hangings!
Anyway, I've always said, if you can sew a straight stitch, you can quilt. And that's the truth. It looks a whole lot more complicated than it really is.
If you have a quilt guild in your area, look into when they meet. A lot of times they'll have a weekly or monthly sewing time when they all get together to sew. You're bound to make some new friends and have many ladies that are more than willing to help a new quilter get started!
hello! I was googling Mountain Home quilt trying to see if there was a quilt shop in the town in Idaho & found your page- I love the red/green/white/black quilt, not sure what the pattern is called! Anywho, is that where you live? I just found out we're moving there soon with the USAF!
Hi LisaAnnB, I have heard of Mountain Home, Idaho but that is not where we live. We do live though in the mountains of the pacific northwest. I hope that you enjoy Idaho! :)
