new chicken

I don't think I've introduced our new chicken- actually he's a rooster. We got him from a friend who had a few too many roosters. We're keeping our fingers crossed that we'll be getting a few chicks out of this. We only have 4 hens right now and only 3 of them are laying. And even at that, they're laying like every other day. It's time for some new blood!
He's a pretty laid back rooster which is a good thing. From what we've seen so far, he doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. That was a concern of mine with the babies tromping around and our chickens being "free range." Actually, he's pretty wimpy so I think he'll fit in just fine! :)

great picture! my parents had a couple Bantam roosters... they were something else. I remember my son, when younger, got out of the car on a visit after they first got them and stood off with one of the roosters... he went into a type of suma wrestler move and so did the rooster, copying one leg out, and then the other... it was hilarious.

Tom's mother had a rooster that lived in their house when we were in high school. Weird right? This rooster strutted around like he was the king...but couldn't back it up. So every night she would open up the back door and call him in for bed:P
