An anniversary and a homestead update

September is out of control already around the homestead! It's my busiest canning month, school has started, hunting season is here, the piggies are growing bigger, the hens are laying more eggs, I'm trying to stay on top of picking green beans and our fall raspberries........
Wow! We needed a little break. So last night, and for our anniversary, Gavin and I dropped the kids off at Nana and Papa's and headed for the back hills. Literally.
A table.......er, chairs for two?
Nothing says "Anniversary Dinner" like uncured hot dogs and sprouted whole grain buns.
Just cause you wear a skirt, doesn't mean you can't shoot a rifle.
I'd like to pretend that my two shots are the ones closest to the bulls eye but they're not. I got one on the target (near the 0 on the left) and one somewhere on a tree behind....I think. It's safe to say that the rifle is shooting high and left. Adjustments are definitely needed. Or, I just need to learn to shoot better, one of the two.
The homestead baby is now 10 months old. This is now officially the oldest baby I have had without having another one on the way!

The wild honey bees are out and about loving the sunflowers!

I'm not sure where we got this tire swing. To be honest, my husband comes home with more "free stuff" than I'd like to own. This one though was a deal. He hooked it up last week and now Timber is hooked!

my kind of anniversary! simple and cheap! Love it!!
It took me a long time to convince my hubby that I don't need/want to go out for fancy dinners. That a quick bite to eat and a walk in the woods is perfect. I'm low maintenance. There are times I appreciate a nice dinner but for the most part it doesn't take much to make me happy.

Baby is getting so big. I love his smile! Be careful what you say. God may have a little something up His sleeves! ha ha.
Babies are such blessings. What would we do without them?! How would we entertain ourselves? And what would we do with a full night's sleep?

Well, Happy Anniversary!
God bless you this day, Heather!

Happy Anniversary! I just found your blog and hope to follow it a bit. I love shooting targets, too. We don't go to many of those types of shoots any more, but I have won a few times and got nice prizes.I won a 22 rifle once, and a huge basket of groceries once, topped with a large turkey. That shoot must have been around Thanksgiving that year.On the way home, we hit the brakes a little too hard and the basket of groceries turned over. The lid came off a can of molasses which was in the basket, and the sticky molasses ran across our new Ford Van floor. I'll never hear the end of that story.

Thanks for your sweet comment about the baby. I really appreciate it. I love your blog. And especially this post about wearing skirts and shooting a rifle. I shoot too. Mostly handguns. I love it. My whole family loves it. I have a really good friend who goes on trips with me called Sig Sauer!!

I'll be back to read more.
