time in the kitchen

I was just thinking this morning, while I was in the kitchen, about how much of my day is spent in it. For example yesterday I did the dishes, baked bread, made tortillas, soaked granola, made baby food, made breakfast, lunch and dinner, mopped the kitchen floor........ all of that simply in one room of the house! It got me wondering, how much time does a homemaker spend on average in the kitchen each day? I added a poll over to the left for you to vote. Let me know, realistically, how much time you really spend- I'm anxious to hear!

I'd have to say, on average, more than 4. Hmmm... maybe I should get a bigger kitchen...? :-)

On an average day I would have to say 3 hours. But in the peak of winter, when I bake much more, and the peak of canning in the summer, 6 hours seems about right. Plus our dinner table is in the kitchen and many hours a day are spent there with the children playing, coloring, and generally getting messy.

Boy HanaJean, I think I'd need an "Over 8" category if we were talking canning season! ;) I'm thankful though that we do have the seasons to bring us in and then send us back out.

I don't spend very much time in the kitchen. I'm teaching myself to change that habit...I have to, especially if I want to live a more self-sufficient life and make more stuff from scratch :) :) :)

The photo you posted is just darling!!! I like the mixing bowl the little girl is using :) :) Also I noticed...Gooseberry Patch cookbooks :) :) :) I just have the one "From Grandma's Kitchen". I plan to add more to my collection eventually :) :)

Have a lovely rest of the week. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

After spending all day canning pickled beets yesterday, I said I'm done with kitchen time! I spend hours in the kitchen. I took your poll. That was fun.

Hey, I recognize that apron that Timber is wearing. Lindsey was wearing hers a few days ago when she and her sissy were playing kitchen.
