saturday night

Here are a few shots from our Saturday night at the homestead. You'll be glad there are no photos of me. It has been windy here the past couple of days and the pollen is flying- which means me, with a runny nose and bloodshot eyes. Not a pretty sight.

Yep, once in a while I do cave and allow my kids to eat something non-organic. I cringed when I read the ingredients on the marshmallows but I don't even think they make organic marshmallows, do they? And I certainly don't want my kiddos growing up not knowing what a s'more is!

Have you ever made your own marshmallows? I haven't, but I've had them before at a friend's house.

And I'm with ya on the allergy thing. A couple hours in the horse barn did me in today. Sneezing, itchy eyes. But it was a great, sunshiny day! so I'm not complaining at all.

How sweet are those children :) :) They're clearly having a good time :) :)..I enjoyed seeing all the photos...thanks for taking the time to post them all :) The one I thought was especially sweet was the precious little boy helping out his dad...oh and the one with the little boy and girl sitting on those chairs :) Adorable!!

Organic marshmallows?..Hmm...I've never seen any, but I'll certainly keep my eyes and ears open now...and if I do find anything, I'll let you know :) :)

I used to live in Eugene, OR...and the pollen count there is just off the charts in summer. In fact, it's probably one of the worst places in the country for allergies. Many of my friends just had a really hard time there..!! I feel for you...hope the allergies go away soon!!!
Much love, hugs and greetings from Oregon, Heather :)

Ahhh, toasted marshmallows - I still love them! For an organic treat you should try some pie irons - that way you can use all your homemade goodies to make them :)

I love it! We also do s'mores once in a while. There is nothing like it. I keep threatening to try home made marshmallows.... good eats has a show on them..... but maybe that is for another day. :)

It looks like you had a great time.

How fun! Our fire pit is still covered, but I'm feeling inspired to build a fire today! :)

Whole Foods has organic marshmallows...never tried them and probably won't...some things you just don't mess with!

Hope you feel better soon!

Making your own marshmallows is really easy, if you have a mixer!

Oh Heather, your children are adorable! What fun! I have made marshmallows before and it is easy (with a mixer like AR Ambler said) It is time consuming but SO WORTH IT! I make them a couple of times a year for my honey and for Christmas gifts as well. We like to have a fire going in the firepit in the winter and either toast marshmallows or have pie and coffee :)

Thanks so much for sharing your fun day and have a blessed evening!
Sharon

PS I have a recipe on my blog for marshmallows here:

Life without s'mores just isnt....well....life! There are some things a momma just has to cave on, and s'mores is one of them! What a sweet family! They will remember these times as some of the best. It's the simple things like s'mores round a campfire that they talk about the most. (hmmmm, wish I'd known that before the Disneyworld trip!)
Blessings,
Linda
