Enjoyed your post on lard rendering. We use to raise our own pig and now we sometimes just buy a slaughtered one...your post was very informative. Is this lard used for ANYTHING like pie crusts? or does it have a 'flavor' to it? I know so little about lard. My mom use to only use that for pie crusts....

Excellent giveaway! I took a few moments to look around your blog and you mentioned the magic word "chickens" so I'll be back. And, my mom comes around for a week at a time to declutter too, but since I'm about your mother's age, that makes my mom, uh, older.
