He's here! Mason Allen was born this last Thursday, November 5th!
First let me say that I love, love, love my midwife. She is the best and I would never go to anyone else to have a child! I am so thankful for her and the person that she is! :)
She was a little off though in her expectations of what my labor/delivery would go like.
It basically ended up being VERY similar to Timber's birth. I went in, they broke my water about 9:30am and my contractions started very slowly. By 11:30am they started Pitocin. That helped a lot. My contractions started coming much more frequently and a lot stronger. Once I got to the point of "I probably can't take this much longer without screaming my head off" we called the anesthesiologist and he came and started an epi for me. That also made a huge difference because once it started working I went from being 5cm to 9cm in a matter of like an hour! By the time I was ready to push I was beyond numb. That wasn't so good. I pushed for almost 2 hours and baby still wasn't coming down past my pelvic bone. My midwife let me know that there was a chance that he wasn't going to come down any further and that I'd have to have a c-section. That certainly made me more determined to push this guy out! I did not want another c-section.......ever. I asked if we could turn my epi way down and that was all it took! Once I could feel my contractions again and feel where I was supposed to be pushing, Mason made his way down the birth canal and out. We welcomed him that evening at 10:29pm.

He came up onto my chest and we waited for the cord to stop pulsating before cutting it.
So needless to say, my labor wasn't as quick as my midwife thought it would be. And she was a little off on his size too. We were hoping for a baby smaller than 9lbs but we got a 10lb 10.9oz baby that was 22" long. Another ready made football player! I am so glad that we induced when we did and didn't wait till after 42wks. I would have surely ended up with an 11 pounder by then.
Anyway, we're all home now, breastfeeding is going well, he's a pretty good sleeper so far and all the other kids are in love with him. I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed us again with a beautiful, healthy baby. I'm also so thanful that my midwife had enough faith in me and in VBACs that she let me just keep pushing and didn't resort to the c-section.
Oh and Bobbi Jo, we did end up getting the vit k shot this time. Mason spent almost 4 hours in the birth canal, sideways! He did finally turn before he came out but had a huge bruise on the side of his very cony head. Gavin and I talked about it and felt that, in this situation, it was best. But otherwise he came home eye goop, vaccination and testing free. :)

Yeahhhh... I am so glad for you all. What a blessing to have another little one in your life! When I talked to Janeal earlier this week, she thought you would have a big baby. Somehow my sister is always right. She actually guessed which day both of my kids would be born and she was right. Must be all those years of labor & delivery. Glad to hear that you are all doing well.
Huge congratulations! I guess we might have to wait a teensy while before any more gorgeous Etsy listings :)
So happy to see your pics and read the story of Mason's trip into this world....BIG BABY! He's so adorable. You rest when you can, and take pictures to share & blog when you have time.
Thanks for sharing....I've been waiting.
Praise the Lord! What a beautiful baby boy. I was thinking about you and I am so glad everything went well!

You both have been in my prayers this week:) You are a super woman for doing the vbac- great, great job! I am still with child in the womb... hoping it will be any minute. God Bless your sweet family.
It was so good to talk to you today. I waited as long as I could stand before calling you. I'm so happy all is well and yes, you are so so so blessed for yet another beautiful healthy baby. Can't wait to see him.
Big congrats, Heather! An 11 pounder would have done me in. LOL Rest up and best wishes!
oh Heather,, I'm smiling so big right now!! He is absolutely perfect! What a chunker!! love the kissable cheeks.
I'm so glad to hear that it went ok, even though not exactly what you had thought. He is healthy, sounds like you are doing fine, that's good!
I was just thinking about you yesterday but didn't get a chance to check my computer. Even though we've never met, it's funny how you can make friends through blogging!
A huge congratulations to you and your family.... now the hard part, trying to rest when he rests! yeah, right!
Wish I could come over and help.
Take care!
Congratulations on your newest bundle of joy! He looks so kissable in that last pic! You have such camera ready cuties, keep em coming for us bloggers. Love to watch the little kiddos grow from pic to pic. May health & happiness be with you & yours
Congratulations on your beautiful new baby boy! I'm so happy for you and your family! Take care of yourself and baby!
Congratulations on the big baby boy!!! I'm glad you both made it through a difficult ordeal. My youngest son was almost that big too and it was also a very difficult delivery...he grew up to be 6'2" and very strong...a BIG helper for moving my fabric around for years...ha, ha! Best wishes for your family!
Congratulations on a safe delivery. Mason is beautiful.
So very glad your little treasure has arrived safe and sound! Congrats to you all, but especially to you. What hard work it is to deliver a baby, and you had the extra effort of pushing out a ready-made little football player! A job well done, my dear, and now the real fun begins! You have a beautiful child to add to your beautiful family. God bless you all.
God bless you and may you recover well and quickly and enjoy the tiny bit of time he is a 'little' baby! (WOW over 10 lbs, no wonder he took his time coming out!)
It's been 2.5 months since our youngest was born and I can't remember how it was without him! He's not little anymore-he's a puddin' baby with lotsa rolls and smiles! Praying for you!
Mrs. C.
OMG He is too cute. Congratulations!!
congratulations on a healthy bouncy baby boy! From the looks of it you would have thought the father did all the work, he looks totaly exhausted.
well, well, well...isn't he just the cutest little tater tot! lol
he is a beautiful blessing for you all...may his footsteps be guided in the path they should go and may he always bring you joy!
what a gorgeous not-so-li'l guy! That has to be one of the biggest babies I have heard of personally. Bless your midwife for the faith she has in you to let you guide the process!
Hope you are getting good rest & taking it as easy as you can!
Congratulations!
